Why location matters for tree work
The same 60-foot pine can need different paperwork a few miles apart. Inside the City of Wilmington, trees in the public right-of-way, in conservation buffers and in local historic districts need a permit, and Wrightsville Beach requires one even to trim a live oak. Unincorporated New Hanover County, Leland and Pender County each have their own rules, so check with the town or county before removing large trees. This is general information, not legal advice.
Debris rules change too. City of Wilmington yard waste crews take limbs up to 4 feet long and 6 inches across, but not stumps, palm trunks or contractor debris, so make sure your quote includes haul-away wherever you live.
